Drastically de-bureaucratize the IVDR in the upcoming revision process.
– To accomplish differential management for class C and B IVDs, since only the former are of high individual risk to patients and/or public health, while the latter represent half of all IVDs. Reduction of regulatory complexity for class B would allow concentration of resources for class C and D.
– To reduce the certification requirements of class C and D in order to facilitate harmonization and optimization of management by the increasing number of Notified Bodies involved.
Accomplish recognition by regulators of established Laboratory Quality Assurance Systems such as External Quality Assessment schemes that should be integrated into the IVDR framework
Organize strong EFLM support to ensure in-house tests can continue their vital role in the health system. A fundamental legal change of the IVDR should be strived for with regard to IH-IVDs as art 5.5 is not compatible with art 1 of the IVDR nor with art 168 of the EU Treaty (as healthcare systems are the responsibility of the Member States).
Advocate for a special regulatory pathway to facilitate the conformity assessment of rare/niche/orphan IVDs and to reduce the costs for their certification, while also ensuring against inappropriate use of this pathway.
Make post-market surveillance the path to identify “bad” IVDs, and IVDs with “short-comings” necessitating LDTs, while remedying the shortcomings should make those specific LDTs obsolete.
Develop an endorsed Regulatory Science module for educating European lab professionals and young scientists on the basics of IVDR and on its effects on the diagnostic ecosystem.

The taskforce could help centres in setting up studies to properly collect such data (common study protocols and formats) and publish their findings
Create a repository/database of publications that is accessible by members of IFCC
Working with CPD and the C-PR, the taskforce will develop publications, presentations, webinars and other communications materials to help IFCC members use this data to effectively promote the critical value of laboratory medicine in healthcare to key stakeholders

The C-CLM promotes good management practices in clinical laboratories. The committee’s mandate is to produce monographs and/or guides on basic clinical laboratory management, quality requirements recognized in major quality management guidelines and to offer training modules, seminars, workshops and expertise to laboratory professionals whose purpose is to define organizational structure and carry out crucial activities necessary to achieve quality in routine clinical laboratory services.
